• Eusebio Kino (Italian SJ missionary to Mexico noted for his far-ranging exploration and map-making) dies.
• Death of Jesuit Fr. Lucas Caballero, first and only Jesuit martyr in Chiquitania, Bolivia.

• (French) Jesuits leave Thailand after French-Thai relatyionships deteriorate. They arrived in 1684 with a French embassy to the King of Siam.
1715 –

• Louis XIV (France) dies.
• Pope Clement XI condemns the “Chinese Rites” which proved disastrous to the Chinese mission.

• Giuseppe Castiglione (famous painter) goes to China, reaching Bejing. He will work as painter and architect for the next 50 years in the Imperial Court.
AMERICAS
• Death of Fr. Louis Andre at Quebec, who for 45 years worked in the missions of New France.

EUROPE
• Francis Jerome (Geronimo), Italian Jesuit saint who worked in Naples, esp. among the poor, dies.
• The beatification of John Francis Regis by Pope Clement XI.
1717 –
EUROPE
• Anthony Baldinucci, Italian Jesuit dies. He wanted to be a missionary to India but due to his frail health his superiors did not allow him. He was sent to Aruzzi and Romagna (former province of the papal states NE Italy) instead as a missionary. For 20 years his apostolate was basically missions and retreat work with headquarters either at Frascati or Viterbo (a city north of Rome). Famous for his preaching and work with the sick. Beatified in 1893.
• 57 Jesuits from Spain sail to Paraguay.
